Two week ago I flew to Chicago and met my mom, sisters, dad, and baby Crew at the airport to go to Oprah. My dad didn't go to Oprah, but came along to babysit Crew. I'm sure he was disappointed.
The next day we woke up early and got ready for the show. Then we drove over to the studio to hurry up and wait. We waited in a line to get in. Waited in a line to get our purses checked. Waited in a line to check our coats. Waited in line to validate our i.d.'s. Then we walked up some stairs and waited in some chairs for about an hour and a half until we could go into the studio. When you get the tickets to go to Oprah you don't know what the show is going to be about. So, before we ever decided to go to Chicago we had decided that no matter what the show was on we'd just be happy we got to see Oprah. That was before we walked into the studio and learned that the show was going to be "The Veganist" and that the show the day before had all the Oscar nominees on it, and the day after was Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler.
Eating vegan? Come on!

The show didn't take that long to record. probably only a little bit longer than when you watch it on t.v. I thought Oprah acted the same both on and off the camera. Off the camera Oprah made some comments to the effect of "What did I do wrong? Why didn't I lose weight eating Vegan?" Then, she figured out the culprit: potato chips. That's my problem too Oprah!
When the show was over Oprah walked out right next to the railing I was sitting by. Tara and I leaned over to touch her hands. When she reached up and grabbed our hands, she looked at me and said "I like your shirt - I like that burnt orange color. Love it. Love it." Something like that.
That made going to Oprah worth it!

The vegan revival really rubbed off on us - after the show we headed straightway to eat some pizza. With lots of cheese and sausage on it. About an hour later we went to another pizza place!

Crew Baby
Me and the Momma at pizza place #1 called "Piece"
Crew saw the camera and immediately made this face (above). And this face (below)
It's his camera face. After the picture was taken he reached out for the camera to see the picture! We might need to teach him some camera posing tips!
Jen, Tara and Crew at pizza place #2, Spacca Nepali. This place was YUM!
My Dad always has that headset on.
This is the shirt that Oprah liked! After eating pizza at this place my Dad and I went to a bar across the street from out hotel and ordered Sprite and Ginger Ale and watched BYU beat San Diego!!
And here's my pretty mom at Spacca Nepali!
What a fun trip! Thanks Mom and Dad for letting me come!!
