We Like to Eat Around Here

If I weren't in school I think I'd become a chef. Or I'd at least try lots of new recipes every week. This week I made French Onion Soup! I also experimented with a tropical pork and rice dish - it was okay.

I forgot to mention - over the break we had a cooking competition for my mom's birthday. Each couple was a team and we competed against each other. Dave and I won "Best Taste and Texture," "Best Main Dish," and "Best Use of Theme." For our main dish we made a spinach, turkey bacon, tomato, and mushroom stuffed chicken breast topped with a white wine sauce. The theme was "light and healthy." We had the chicken in the oven for 40 min cooking. We pulled the chicken out a few minutes before we had to serve it and it wasn't cooked - we had the wrong oven turned on! Our chicken was disqualified, so we served our sauce over some angel hair for the main dish!

We made French Onion soup last Sunday! Must be soup season. I don't like the soggy bread part, though. I think it's best to dip the bread. Cooking is fun. Speaking of which, where's the cupcake recipe?
