i worked night shifts this week. in the middle of the night i was in a patients room trying to open a very velcro-y blood pressure cuff. it made a REALLY loud noise. and probably not only woke up the patient and his parental guardian, but also the rest of the children on the 2nd floor. and quite possibly those above and below us on the 3rd and 1st floors respectively. i apologized for the rucus, and started applying the cuff to the patients arm. when out of the blue this teen-aged boy said "you're a good nurse :)"
{after which, i maybe said "huh? what?"because maybe i wanted to make sure i heard correctly}
It is moments like this that make graveyards, no exercise, ugly shoes, and waking up at 5:00 am worth it!
thank you!
YOU'RE a good patient!
