6 Days and Counting!!!

In 6 days I will be done with school forever!! (or for a year or two until I go to grad school!)

Some recent happenings:
- I got a REAL job!
- I finished my last clinical!
- I decided to teach swimming in AZ for a month!
- I went to my second to last nursing class ever!
- I still haven't studied for my nursing boards...

I am so thankful for all of the neat experiences I have had in my schooling. I am usually caught without my camera, but I do have a few pictures from nursing that I like. The picture below is from last May (2007) when I went to Ecuador.

Our first day there a few of us were assigned to go to the children's hospital. The nurses and doctors there didn't seem too interested in letting us help, so we wandered around practicing our Spanish on the patients. Some of the kids are super bored because they're stuck in the hospital for months... until you can pay your bill you can't leave... kind of a vicious cycle :( I practiced my Spanish on this little girl for about 20 minutes (when you only know 10 Spanish words 20 minutes is a LONG time!) She loved playing with my stethoscope, but it made her really mad when I started saying "lub-dub, lub-dub" and it echoed in her ears really loud! That was my one and only day at that hospital, but the next day some of the same people went back and they saw her. They tried to play with her but she just kept saying "I want Katie!" It is amazing the kind of connections you can make with people even when you do not speak their language.

Hey Katie! So great to get connected! And what a small world...I just saw Shanen's comment who I met at Costco because of blogs. Crazy blogging world. Anyway, it sounds like you've been BUSY and doing things I love and crave...Russian orphanage? Helping Spanish kids in the hospital? I'm sure you're making a difference in so many lives. Good for you!

About the pictures, I'm not sure that I'll be able to fit you guys in, gosh darn it! I just had a really big response and can only take the first two IF I can even fit them in. I'll definitely let you know if anyone falls through though...you're up high on the list. I miss you guys and would love to catch up while taking pictures. If I can re=work my schedule at all to fit you in I'll let you know.

Tell your mom hi! We're not doing swimming this year, but maybe I'll just come visit and catch up anyway. WHere are you teaching?
